Hand Dyed Vegetable Cowhide Leathers for Main Leather & Fringe Leather

for Single Color Hand Dyed leather goods or Two Color Ombre Hand Dyed leather goods

TYPE, WEIGHT, FEEL

  • 3oz stiff milled natural cowhide leather with custom colored leather dye applied to it by hand. Overtime our unique hand dyed leather softens, slouches, and inherits an amazing vintage distress of color where the dye gets pulled out, a patina gets exposed, and a worn-in semi-glossy patina appears. The leather maintains a strong and rugged but soft supple hand. The undyed rear side gain a patina from the sun.

HOW IT’S TANNED

  • Brazilian harvested and vegetable tanned cowhide leather. Veg tan leather can take months to develop in a sustainable process. This particular tanning process uses natural vegetable tannins to alter the protein structure of the hide, causing it to become leather.

OUR UNIQUE HAND DYED PROCESS

  • We sponge dye, by hand, unique color combos using water based leather dyes. We have practiced this technique for 7 years and we believe it sets Bird Trouble apart from other brands. Due to the hand applied and nature of the leather, color placement may vary from order to order and dyed colors may appear a little different from your screen to real life.

 

Bison Leathers for Main Leather & Fringe Leather

TYPE, WEIGHT, FEEL

  • 3/4oz American Buffalo leathers. Soft, squishy, and slouchy but strong and high quality with a natural pebble. Maintains a naturally glossed look as it ages and is a great material to experience wear and tear.

HOW ITS TANNED

  • USA harvested and vegetable tanned. Vegetable tanned leather can take months to develop in a sustainable process with no chemicals.

  • There may be imperfections such as insect bites, horn scratches, rashes, scars, veins, fat wrinkles, and ranch brands on these leathers. We avoid the loud imperfections for the exterior of our products but may include them on interior pockets.

 
 

Cowhide Leathers for Main Leather & Fringe Leather

TYPE, WEIGHT, FEEL

  • 3.5 - 4.5oz cowhide leather. Slouchy and supple. Milled and medium sturdy tempered. Soft leather with unique varying subtle pebble, waxy finishes that will soften and (some) create a natural two tone effect over time.

HOW IT’S TANNED

  • A mix of chrome-free tanning drum-through dyed semi-aniline finish and chrome tanned produced using a solution of chemicals, acids and salts to dye the hide.

 

Suede Leather

WEIGHT & FEEL

  • 4.5oz cow splits tanned into a soft but rugged buffed suede, think leather chaps! Smooth with minimum stretch, soft but medium sturdy tempered.

HOW IT’S TANNED

  • Chrome tanned produced using a solution of chemicals, acids and salts to dye the hide.

Metallic Leathers Available Only for Fringe

WEIGHT & FEEL

  • Uniquely finished 3.5oz cowhide leather with a solid buffed suede back. Some have a solid black back or match the front’s color tone. Very cool!! Pliable, flexible, soft and high quality. USA, family owned and operated Union Company since 1910.

  • Chrome tanned produced using a solution of chemicals, acids and salts to dye the hide.
